The origins of the Great Gatsby and the ROYAL both date back to the 1920s which makes the ROYAL the perfect venue to host this production.

The show is freely inspired by The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald.

The piece is not about the story of Gatsby but is a reference to that period of American history: prohibition, speakeasy clubs, parties, champagne, jazz, the universe of the rich and famous portrayed by Fitzgerald through his decadent character Jay Gatsby etc… We focus more on the atmosphere than on the history of the book itself.

Actually the character of Gatsby doesn’t even appear on stage, though he is mentioned several times during the show.

In terms of the music, audiences can look forward to a highly contemporary medley of hits: for instance the famous song from the 2013 Gatsby movie by Fergie: “A little party never killed anybody", plus a song by Beyoncé. A DJ will play Electro Swing music.

The show is very entertaining and interactive: singers and dancers mingle with the audience during the show and interact with the crowd.
