Czech Theater is an amateur multicultural community theater performing Czech plays in English so that people can enjoy this important part of Czech culture. Founded in 2018, the productions are consistently among Brno’s “can’t miss” English-language events.
The 2025 spring play (following the theme of "mismatched relationships") is a 1920s romantic comedy written by František Langer, translated by Petr Pecha, and adapted by Czech Theater. A clever poor young woman meets a lost wealthy young man. Will their love end in tears and tragedy...or in a successful milk bar in Prague?
Join us on a journey back in time to 1925. After the worst pandemic in human history and a devastating world war, and just before fascism took hold, there was a pause between the wars, when many things were dark but a trip to the theater was a chance to escape reality and imagine a life that was as light and sweet as a bowl of whipped cream. 1920s theater-wear eagerly welcomed (but not required).
